Mayor wins minor battle in school district case
- Share via
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge Friday granted a small victory to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in his battle with school officials over control of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
The mayor’s team had wanted to bring in the law firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson to represent parents who back the mayor. The school system had argued that the law firm had a conflict of interest because of past work with the district.
Judge Dzintra Janavs sided with the mayor. The court case centers on the constitutionality of the law giving the mayor partial authority over L.A. Unified.
