Board OKs $90-million mental services plan

The Board of Supervisors gave final approval Tuesday to a nearly $90-million plan aimed at improving mental health services for thousands of children monitored by the county’s child welfare system.
The county is expected to pay about $36 million for its financial obligation.
The rest is expected to come from state and federal funding.
The plan was created after a federal court judge ruled that the county had not done enough to quickly reform the way it provides mental health care to foster children who are living with families.
