MUSIC LOVER LAMENTS
As a lover of classical music, I find less and less information in the printed version of the L.A. Times about upcoming performances. This is in great contrast to two to three years ago, and more specifically since the changes were made recently to the Guide. What we get primarily is notification of upcoming performances at the big venues (e.g., Disney, the Dorothy Chandler) and reviews afterward of events at those same locations.
An incredible amount of high-quality concerts take place in less-well-known Los Angeles Basin locations, presented by small groups that don’t have the PR power of those bigger venues.
