Event seeks to lure drivers to public transit

Orange County transportation planners are encouraging drivers to leave their cars at home and try public transit on Thursday, national Dump the Pump Day.
“With increased gas prices, people are searching for ways to get around without putting a dent in their pocketbooks,” said Carolyn Cavecche, Orange County Transportation Authority chairwoman.
OCTA is joining hundreds of other transit agencies nationwide participating in the event for the second year. Staff members will be at Fullerton Metrolink station with doughnuts and juice for morning commuters.
