TULSA, OKLA. — The winner of a rusted 1957 Plymouth Belvedere -- unearthed June 15 from a leaky Tulsa vault -- died in 1979. Ownership of the car passes to his closest living relatives.
When the car was buried in 1957, more than 800 people submitted guesses on what Tulsa’s population would be in 2007. Officials said Friday that Raymond E. Humbertson won the two-door hardtop Belvedere with his guess of 384,743.
A nephew, Donald Humbertson of Woodbridge, Va., came forward to say that Raymond Humbertson died of cancer at age 57 and his wife, Margaret, died in 1988. His closest living relatives are two elderly sisters in Maryland.
