Re “MTA seeks sales tax hike,” July 25
The Times leaves out a few key facts. First, regional planners do predict that traffic delays could grow by 80%, but that would happen only if we allow real estate developers to build all the projects they want.
Second, the average motorist is delayed 72 hours a year by traffic congestion, but even the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority acknowledges that building every transit project it has planned will not reduce that congestion.
Rail lines have never been shown to reduce traffic because of the high-density real estate projects that always result.
