at Chicago 4, Kansas City 0: Ken Griffey Jr. had a run-scoring single in the first inning, then made a diving catch in the second, and Mark Buehrle pitched five-hit ball for seven innings to keep the White Sox in first place in the AL Central.
at Minnesota 4, New York 2: Delmon Young hit a three-run homer for the second day in a row and the Yankees straggled home after a 3-7 trip through Texas, Anaheim and Minnesota. Kevin Slowey (9-8) worked the corners of the strike zone over six strong innings for Minnesota, surrendering three hits, one run and one walk against a lineup missing Derek Jeter. Joe Nathan pitched the ninth for his 32nd save.
at Boston 8, Texas 4: Kevin Youkilis led another hitting outburst for the Red Sox with three doubles. A day after Boston’s 19-17 victory, the Rangers cut an 8-0 lead to 8-4 in the eighth inning on a three-run homer by Milton Bradley before Ian Kinsler -- leading the majors in hits -- grounded into a double play.
Toronto 4, at Detroit 3: Vernon Wells hit a grand slam and David Purcey pitched six shutout innings as the Blue Jays won their third in a row and handed the Tigers their 10th loss in 13 games. Kenny Rogers (8-10) lost his fourth straight start.
Baltimore 6, at Cleveland 1: Jeremy Guthrie (10-8) won his fourth straight start, going seven innings against the team that made him a first-round draft pick in 2002, and the Orioles ended the Indians’ five-game winning streak.
Tampa Bay 3, at Oakland 2: Eric Hinske had three hits, including a home run, and Ben Zobrist doubled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning.
Seattle 10, at Angels 7 (12 innings): Francisco Rodriguez couldn’t hold a 6-4 lead in the ninth.
