at New York 3, Kansas City 2 (13 innings): Brett Gardner singled through the left side of the infield with two out in the 13th, driving in Robinson Cano.
at Minnesota 7, Seattle 6: Joe Mauer scored the winning run with one out in the ninth inning on Brian Buscher’s sacrifice fly.
at Detroit 5, Baltimore 3: Miguel Cabrera and Carlos Guillen hit home runs in the fourth inning to help Justin Verlander win for the first time in almost a month.
at Texas 3, Tampa Bay 0: Rookie Matt Harrison pitched eight sharp innings and Ian Kinsler homered on the first pitch in the bottom of the first inning. Harrison gave up only three hits and retired his final 18 batters.
Toronto 4, at Boston 1: Roy Halladay spoiled Paul Byrd’s debut with the Red Sox, pitching his major league-leading eighth complete game.
Angels 4, at Cleveland 3: The Angels avoided their first three-game losing streak since June.
