Stricker (64) makes himself comfortable

Steve Stricker made himself right at home at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J. -- and at the top of The Barclays leaderboard.
A year after winning across the Hudson River at Westchester Country Club, he shot a seven-under-par 64 in perfect morning conditions Friday to take a three-stroke lead over Hunter Mahan in the FedEx Cup playoff opener.
Stricker, 21st in the FedEx Cup standings, is at 10-under 132. Mahan, 31st in the FedEx Cup standings, followed his opening 62 with a 73.

Angela Park shot a six-under 66 to take a one-stroke lead after the first round of the Safeway Classic at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore.
Kelli Kuehne was in a group of six tied for second at 67.

Mark Wiebe birdied four of his first five holes, then added two more on the back nine to shoot a five-under 67, giving him a share of the first-round lead with Scott Simpson at the Boeing Classic in Snoqualmie, Wash.

Adam Mitchell and Patrick Reed are giving the Georgia Bulldogs something to cheer besides football -- they advanced to the U.S. Amateur semifinals at Pinehurst, N.C.
Mitchell defeated Charlie Holland, 2 and 1, and Reed beat Graham Hill, 4 and 3.
Mitchell will face Drew Kittleson, who defeated Derek Fathauer, 3 and 2. Reed will play Danny Lee, who defeated Morgan Hoffmann, 4 and 3.
