Body of woman found on road

The body of a woman who had been shot in the head was discovered by a passerby on an isolated San Fernando Valley road early Wednesday, authorities said.
The woman, who appeared to be about 30, was found on La Tuna Canyon Road just west of the Foothill Freeway, Los Angeles police spokeswoman Karen Smith said. The body was spotted about 1:45 a.m.
The incident is being investigated as a homicide, Smith said. The woman’s identity has not yet been released.
