Praise for T.J.? Watch out for the flying pigs

The excellent piece on Willie Forge in T.J. Simers’ column Tuesday illustrated two very important points.
One, it’s a shame more parents today don’t raise their kids to respect others, have manners, know right from wrong and be able to stand on their own two feet. They want to be a friend to their kids instead of a parent.
Two, T.J. Simers is a good writer when he is not making fun of the zany world of sports (which I happen to like). A poignant piece from “Mr. Tongue-In-Cheek” is always a pleasant surprise.

Opened up Page 2 and there I found an articulate, homey, feel-good story about Willie Forge of Compton. No way this could be a T.J. Simers article. As I read, I kept waiting for the biting sarcasm, or some sort of negative drawback to Willie or Compton, but no.
I’ve been on you for all your negative articles, so let me commend you for helping my day begin with a smile.
