Police identify slain boy

Long Beach police on Monday identified an 11-year-old boy killed Sunday night.
Jose Luis Garcia Bailey of Long Beach was shot in the upper body by two suspects who approached him while he was standing with a group in the 2000 block of East 15th Street at 10 p.m., said Long Beach Police Sgt. Dina Zapalski.
A 20-year-old man was also shot and wounded. Both were taken to St. Mary Medical Center, where the boy later died. The 20-year-old, who was shot in the lower torso, was in stable condition this morning, Zapalski said. Police have not released the surviving victim’s name.
