Farmworker’s death probed

California officials are investigating the death of an 18-year-old farmworker who collapsed after working an eight-hour shift in 100-degree heat.
Maria Isabel Vasquez died last week at Lodi Memorial Hospital, two days after collapsing in a San Joaquin County vineyard.
Supervisors reportedly tried to revive Jimenez with a wet towel and rubbing alcohol before she was taken to a Lodi medical clinic.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating whether overwork or poor working conditions might have led to her death.
