Is Joe still Democrats’ cup of tea?

Joe Lieberman, the independent senator from Connecticut, has edged away from the Democratic Party and irked its leaders with his vocal support of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, an old friend.
But the prospect of sizable Democratic gains means his ex-party might not need him to keep control of the Senate.
Asked on NBC’s “Meet the Press” about Lieberman’s fate, Massachusetts Sen. John F. Kerry said, “I want him to be a Democrat. You bet.”
On CBS’ “Face the Nation,” New York Sen. Charles E. Schumer was evasive. “We’re going to wait until Wednesday to even discuss that, publicly or privately,” he said.
