at Philadelphia 4, Washington 3: Jimmy Rollins made a sliding stop with the bases loaded to start a game-ending double play, and the Phillies clinched their second consecutive NL East title and earned back-to-back postseason appearances for the first time since 1980-81.

at New York 2, Florida 0: Johan Santana, pitching on three days’ rest, delivered a three-hitter, pulling the Mets, who have won only three of their last eight games, into a tie with Milwaukee for the NL wild card.

Chicago 7, at Milwaukee 3: Ben Sheets (13-9) tried to put aside nagging elbow soreness in his first start since Sept. 17, but he gave up four runs in only 2 1/3 innings. Milwaukee’s lineup couldn’t manage much of anything against Ted Lilly (17-9), who held the Brewers hitless until Ryan Braun led off the seventh with a double.

Atlanta 11, at Houston 5: Josh Anderson hit two home runs and Jeff Francoeur drove in three runs with a pair of doubles for the Braves.

at St. Louis 8, Cincinnati 5: Albert Pujols hit his 37th home run and reached 100 runs for the seventh time in his first eight seasons.

at Arizona 6, Colorado 4: Stephen Drew’s two-run single in the eighth inning came too late to help Brandon Webb get his 23rd win.

at San Diego 3, Pittsburgh 2: The Padres won’t lose 100 games.

Dodgers 2, at San Francisco 1: Greg Maddux 355 wins, Roger Clemens 354.
