11 suspected militants killed

Indian forces killed 11 suspected Islamic militants, including seven during a prolonged battle among Himalayan peaks 10,000 feet above sea level, in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir, the army said.
One soldier also was killed in the three-day battle near Kangan, a village about 30 miles northeast of Srinagar, said Lt. Col. Anil Kumar Mathur, the army spokesman.
