A 41-year-old man punched Chico State President Paul J. Zingg in the face Wednesday after entering his university office and yelling incoherently, a spokesman said.
Zingg, 61, held the man against the wall until university police arrested him, spokesman Joe Wills said. Abe B. Stutts Jr. remained in custody Thursday afternoon on charges of felony assault and being under the influence.
Stutts had no known connection to the president or the school, Wills said.
