The 13th Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival isn’t just about birds. Though you may see more than 200 species that live or pass through this California coastal town, you may also spot elephant seals and gray whales during the Jan. 16 to 19 event. Thirty-five featured events include Condor Country and a field trip to Bittercreek National Wildlife Refuge. Cost is $70 for four days; $35 for single days Friday through Sunday; $25 for Monday. Note: Some field trips cost extra, and space is limited so register early. Info: (805) 275-4143; www.morrobaybird festival.org
