T.J. Simers says USC sports information director Tim Tessalone told him, “You’re like a cockroach.” Since it is a Simers quote, there’s no way to confirm its accuracy, but if Tessalone did say it, I suspect he was speaking for hundreds of athletes, coaches and administrators who have had to deal with his same old act for so many years.
Pete Carroll is a lousy coach, Rick Neuheisel is a liar, the people who run the Dodgers are greedy, the Angels are boring, the Lakers are whatever.
It never changes, from the childish nicknames to the predictable hyperbole. Given the way Simers has savaged so many people for so many years, it’s amazing anybody talks to him.
You know how Simers assigns unflattering nicknames to people? The Grocery Bagger, the Parking Lot Attendant. Maybe he could be the Cockroach.
I appreciate his observations on improving the USC football program, but I’ll take my chances with the guy who has won 86% of his games.
