Update: The Kings, whose five-game losing streak includes losses in the first four games of an eight-game homestand, will reach the halfway point of the season Saturday. They were 23-15-3 at the midpoint last season and finished 46-27-9. Their home penalty-killing, the NHL’s best early this season, has allowed opponents to score six power-play goals in 14 advantages over the last four home games. Ryan Smyth has five goals and six points in his last five games. Anze Kopitar has only one goal in his last 11 games but has 12 assists. This will end a four-game trip for the Blue Jackets.
