‘General Hospital’ moves to an earlier time

“General Hospital” is getting a new time slot on ABC.
The network’s lone soap is moving to 2 p.m. ET, an hour earlier from its previous time, beginning Sept. 10. It will take over the slot previously occupied by the now defunct lifestyle series, “The Revolution.” Veteran soaps “One Life to Live” and “All My Children”ended their runs to make room for the network’s attempt at revamping its daytime lineup with talk shows — which, in addition to “The Revolution,” included”The Chew.” The 2 p.m. slot is currently getting a brief trial run by “Good Afternoon America,” the “Good Morning America” spinoff.
“General Hospital’s” move will allow the long-running series to serve as a lead-in for Katie Couric’s new syndicated talk show.
The daytime sudser, which is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary in the coming year, won big at the recent Daytime Emmy Awards.
