Mack Sennett shorts: A program of “one-reelers” by the slapstick pioneer begins with “The Curtain Pole” (5 p.m. TCM) and also includes his feature-length 1914 comedy “Tillie’s Punctured Romance” starring Charlie Chaplin (9:45 p.m. TCM).
Man on Fire: The late Tony Scott directed Denzel Washington in this 2004 action tale set in Mexico; Christopher Walken and Dakota Fanning also star (10 p.m. Cinemax).
SPORTS
Tennis: Play continues at the U.S. Open in Flushing, N.Y. (7:30 a.m. Tennis; 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. ESPN2).
Baseball: The Angels face the Oakland Athletics (noon FSN).
