NEW YORK -- With ratings for “American Idol” tumbling and few new hits to speak of other than “The Following,” Fox will unveil a 2013-14 schedule Monday that includes five new comedies and four dramas during its upfront presentation to advertisers in New York City.
New shows include “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” a comedy about a New York police squad starring Andy Samberg of “Saturday Night Live” fame, and “Almost Human,” a futuristic hourlong show from J.J. Abrams that the network described as a “high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.”
Other new programs for the fall include: “Sleepy Hollow,” which Fox said is a modern version of Washington Irving’s Ichabod Crane and “Dads,” a sitcom from “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane about two video game entrepreneurs whose fathers move in with them.
