Police capture inmate who escaped L.A. Twin Towers jail

An inmate who escaped last month from the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles was captured Wednesday night in Santa Monica, authorities said.
Christopher Lee Brown, 37, was taken into custody “without incident” after being identified by an informant outside the Pico Youth and Family Center near Pico and Lincoln boulevards, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Quiana Birckbeck said.
Authorities said the Sheriff’s Department contacted Santa Monica police, who apprehended Brown, and that Sheriff’s Department detectives later transported him back to the Twin Towers facility from which he had escaped March 12 by posing as another inmate.
Brown is being held without bail and will face a new charge in connection with the escape, Birckbeck said.
He had been sentenced to four years, eight months in jail on felony burglary charges for stealing computers from a medical center, compromising the data of hundreds of thousands of patients, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
