Lightning storm in L.A. prompts warning to stay indoors

Thunder and lightning storms were moving through parts of Southern California on Friday afternoon, with the National Weather Service warning of brief but heavy downpours.
The NWS said some lightning strikes were reported during the storm, adding: “If you can, stay indoors until storms pass.”
Heavy rain was falling in downtown L.A. as well as parts of Ventura County, the San Fernando Valley, the Westside, Mid-City, Santa Clarita and some high-desert communities.
Some roadway flooding is possible, the NWS warned.
The NWS said the rains will pass Friday, and that Saturday will see partly cloudy skies.
