Reader photo: The best medicine

Laughter is a gorgeous thing to capture on film, yet a difficult one to get a perfect picture of. The best photos of a laugh are oftentimes when a subject is surprised by something funny happening, or something said, and the delight is all too apparent.
Photographer Anthony Samaniego was taking photographs of his friend Elizabeth Hernandez at a Metro station in downtown Los Angeles. While trying to shoot a cinemagraph (a series of photographs published as an animated GIF, but with subtle repetitive movement), Samaniego decided to take photos of Hernandez on the train platform.
“While we were there, I took a few photos of her while the subway moved by,” wrote Samaniego in an email. “During one of the shots a man drunkenly blurted out, ‘She’s too pretty for the camera.’ We laughed and I got this shot of her.”
