A man who barricaded himself for hours inside his Riverside apartment was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Police responded to an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Loma Vista Street around 8:30 p.m. Friday regarding a disturbance between two residents, said Lt. Val Graham of the Riverside Police Department.
Officers spoke with one of the residents about the dispute, then attempted to contact the other, but that man barricaded himself inside his unit, Graham said. Negotiators and a SWAT team were called to the scene, Graham said.
Sometime Saturday morning, the SWAT team entered the apartment and found an adult male dead, “possibly of a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Graham said.
The coroner’s office will determine the official cause of death and identify the man. No details about him were immediately released.
No other people were injured, Graham added.
