A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder Friday after he called Downey police and told them he killed his father, police said.
The boy called police about 9 a.m. and reported he had shot his father in their home in the 8500 block of Fontana Street, Lt. Mark McDaniel said.
The two lived together and the boy’s parents were divorced. Police were trying to contact the boy’s mother Friday, McDaniel said.
Officers went to the home and found the boy, his dead father and a weapon, police said.
The boy was taken to the Downey police station for questioning and will be booked on suspicion of murder, McDaniel said.
The boy’s name is being withheld because of his age. Police did not immediately identify the victim.
