Earthquake: 3.9 quake strikes near Borrego Springs

A shallow magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported Thursday evening five miles from Borrego Springs, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 11:10 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 8.1 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 22 miles from La Quinta, Calif., 26 miles from Palm Desert, 26 miles from Coachella and 249 miles from Phoenix.
In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
