Readers React: The insanity of spending $60 billion for new stealth bombers

To the editor: The article about an Air Force contract bidding war for a new $60-billion bomber talks about the potential for job creation in the Southland. (“Air Force’s plan for new stealth bomber could bring thousands of jobs to the Southland,” Oct. 27)
Deeper inside the paper, on Page 4 of the California section, was an article on the true costs of war, reporting the deaths of Marine Corps Maj. Elizabeth Kealey and Capt. Adam Satterfield in a helicopter crash near the Twentynine Palms Marine base.
I mourn these deaths and am disgusted by the insanity of more weapons manufacturing.
Our funding priorities as a nation need to be redirected away from destructive, costly military solutions and toward a sustainable, nonviolent economy.
