Letters: Love the parks

Re “Making L.A. a park place,” Opinion, Jan. 15
It’s good to read something uplifting about the city of Los Angeles in The Times.
Against the backdrop of park budget cuts, the ravages of the recession and the public’s flagging faith in government’s capacity to accomplish great things, the Parks Commission and the city’s Recreation and Parks Department decided the time was right to add 50 parks to the city’s stock, and they decided to locate those parks in the city’s most underserved areas.
Job well done.
