The Laguna Beach Patriots Day Parade Committee this week announced honorees for the 52nd annual event in March.
The grand marshal will be Gloria Fickling, a Laguna Beach writer who, with her late husband, Skip Fickling, co-authored the Honey West novels that starred a female detective.
Honorees also include Honored Patriot George Ciampa, a World War II veteran; Citizen of the Year Heidi Miller; Junior Citizens of the Year Marisa Schatz and Joseph Ravenna; Artists of the Year the Laguna Art Museum, which turns 100 in 2018; and Athletes of the Year the Laguna Beach Water Polo Club’s 10-and-under, 12-and-under and 14-and-under girls teams that all won titles during last summer’s Junior Olympics.
Honorees will be celebrated during a Feb. 4 brunch at Tivoli Terrace, 650 Laguna Canyon Road.
The brunch begins at 11:15 a.m. and costs $30 per person. Reservations should be made by Jan. 22.
The parade, themed “Waves of Freedom,” begins at 11 a.m. March 3 in front of Laguna Beach High School at 625 Park Ave.
The annual event is held the first Saturday of every March and showcases a variety of entrants such as civic and community organizations and school bands.
