Road closures set for Newport Beach
It’s not a cruel April Fools’ joke.
Traffic will back up on Jamboree Road in Newport Beach today
because of major water pipeline work. Lanes on the northbound side of
Jamboree Road, between San Joaquin Hills Road and Eastbluff/Ford
Road, will be narrowed from three to two until May 23, officials
said.
Night work may also be necessary to build the water transmission
main. Surrounding homes and businesses will be notified. Officials
suggest that drivers take Newport Boulevard, Dover Drive/Irvine
Boulevard and MacArthur Boulevard. For information, call the public
works department at (949) 644-3320.
Vanguard choir director guests at Carnegie Hall
Vanguard University Choir Director James Melton will be the guest
maestro at Carnegie Hall for the second time in three years.
As the guest maestro, Melton, also chair of the university’s music
department, will have the chance to conduct the best choirs from
around the country through major works in the world-famous venue.
The concert will also include performances by Vanguard’s concert
choir, chamber choir and women’s chorus. Their Carnegie Hall
performance will be May 24, while the choirs will perform at a number
of other venues starting May 16.
