tellings, and though Frank enjoys the chase, he wonders if a working

stiff can maintain his hold on such an exotic creature. Miranda, in

reality a confidence woman wedged in a complex set of schemes between

her mentor, Christian (John Hurt) and sleazy millionaire Nailor (Kyle

MacLachlan). She seeks solace with her slightly loopy lover, but it’s

anybody’s guess whether they’ll emerge unscathed from this thicket of

high-stakes agendas.

In 1997, Sting was asked by the Walt Disney Company to write the

music for a new animation feature called “Kingdom of the Sun.” The

film was eventually released as “The Emperor’s New Groove.” For the

first time in its history, Disney allowed an outside film crew into

its world to chronicle the nuts and bolts, and the blood, sweat and

tears of its animation. This was the bumpiest ride that anyone within

the studio could remember, and not what you would imagine in the cozy

world of Mickey Mouse.

skies in Europe. It was a decisive moment in the history of the

world. From 1942 to mid 1944, Germany had the advantage: experience,

years preparing for the inevitable air war and great engineers behind

extremely well designed machines. One plane, however, was to overcome

all of these odds and prove that persistence was a much greater power

than fear. This airplane was the B-17 Flying Fortress, whose legacy

is unmatched in the history of aviation.

insurance scams, and how the Korean bourgeoisie has picked up tricks

learned in the Western World.

present-day happenings through its unexpected sale and demolition.

family. In a fit of rage, Sandeman divides the empire between the

sets out to even the score, whatever the cost. My Kingdom, one of

Richard Harris’s final roles as a modern day King Lear, leaves a

Darrell Wilks captured the realistic perspective of the New York

underground, a viewpoint not explored by American media. The attacks

his world by commenting that the city was as dangerous for him before

the attack as after. Another is grateful, perhaps for the first time,

that she lives in the ghetto because terrorists wouldn’t bother

attacking her neighborhood. These artists continue their struggle to

address issues of race, class and evolving black culture in America

as they help create it. They translate the pain and joy of the soul

judge in post-war Germany. After being forced to work as a slave

laborer, Edith was able to successfully conceal her Jewish identity,

eventually marrying a Nazi officer who never betrayed her secret.

After the war, Edith was able to reclaim her life as a lawyer and a

judge.

daughter’s safety at the war’s end, Hiep’s mother sent her to the

U.S. on “Operation Babylift,” a plan to relocate orphans and

mixed-race children to the U.S. for adoption. Mother and daughter

would know nothing about each other for 22 years. Now, as if by a

miracle, they are reunited in Danang.

more withdrawn. One gray day, Harry has an absurd idea, why not find

himself an enemy? After all, if love seems to have left him with

nothing, perhaps hate can give him back some relish for life. After

some hard thinking, he settles on George, the most powerful man in

the village and becomes obsessed with how to destroy him. This

absurdist tragicomic parable, crafted by Serbian director Goran

Paskaljevick, contains underlying similarities both Ireland and

Serbia have with nationalist struggles.

team are all hopelessly bad swimmers; and lastly, she suddenly

discovers she’s eight months pregnant and due for maternity leave.

With hope, courage, and swimsuits, the team develops into a Swan Lake

For a persistent teenage girl in 1964, Bobbie Dean’s goal of

becoming a champion basketball player is easier dreamed than

accomplished -- especially at a time when the line between boys and

girls sports was clearly drawn. Bobbie is an excellent player, but

when it comes to playing on a team, she can hardly follow the “girls

rules.” When Bobbie is mistaken for a boy, she thinks her dream may

have finally come true.

Tough girl Emily and meek, pampered Melissa have not spoken in

three years, so when Emily receives a desperate call from her sister

summoning her to Los Angeles, this is serious. Arriving at Melissa’s

lush Hollywood Hills home, Emily greets her disoriented sister and

soon discovers that her husband Alan’s naked, and apparently dead,

body is stuffed under the kitchen sink. In a fit of panic, the

sisters concoct a plan to dispose of Alan in a remote desert area.

With Alan’s body in the trunk of the car, the two sisters embark on a

journey, encountering strange and eccentric characters along the way.

community in the 1950’s and 1960’s are explored through first-hand

accounts of seven men and women. During the McCarthy era witch hunts,

the loyalties of more than 10,000 Chinese Americans were questioned

based on their ethnicity and alleged risk to national security. While

China remains an enigma to most Americans, the prejudice and jingoism

that has negatively affected the lives of Chinese Americans has

rarely been examined.

Trong is an overbearing gang chief and garbage dealer, pocketing

the profits from garbage collectors in town. His life is turned

around when he meets Thuy, a flower vendor, selling her virginity to

buy medicine for her sick mother. Trong falls deeply in love with

Thuy and brings her back to live with him at the dump. With his love

for Thuy and friendship with other impoverished people in his

community, Trong sets out to improve the living and working

conditions at the dump. All begins to work out until Trong almost

kills a young artist who is obviously attracted to Thuy. This act of

jealousy causes Thuy to leave and the remorse that follows causes

Trong to seek redemption and the respect of the entire community.

After her father dies, Gilda discovers that he was carrying a long

affair with a mysterious Italian woman. Gilda goes crazy with grief

and anger. Her crush on Micheal De Santis takes on an obsessive turn.

Posing as an Italian journalist with the same name and persona as her

father’s mistress, she succeeds in making it on to the film set where

De Santis is shooting and to a private interview with him.

Dreams are what Melinda brought with her the day she left for the

Provincial town of Malawig. The young teacher arrives to find a land

of coconut and rice fields and people barren of hope. Poverty has

made the townsfolk passive and resigned to a bitter fate, while

others fight in the mountains. Staking their lives for some kind of

change against the skepticism of the town, Melinda and the children

of Malawig join a humble singing contest. Their song awakens in

everyone a small flame of hope, a daring to dream and willingness to

fight for it. Melinda leaves the town believing that it is within

one’s power to make a difference and that within one’s self is a

voice of hope waiting to be heard.
