Estancia maintains first place in league

The Estancia High boys golf team solidified its status atop the
Golden West League Thursday with a 186-210 victory over visiting
Orange at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club.
Estancia freshman Marcus Sostak shot par 35 over nine holes to
record the low round of the day. Jason Cassidy (36), Ryan Brown (38),
Greg Les (38) and Austin Serr (39) also scored for the Eagles, who
improved to 9-2, 5-0 in league.
The Eagles return to the links on Tuesday when they compete at the
Atascadero Tournament, beginning at 7 a.m.
Aliso turns back Tars
* Host Aliso Niguel High topped Newport Harbor, 196-212, in a Sea
View League boys golf match Thursday at El Niguel Country Club in
Laguna Niguel.
Aliso’s Joseph Kim shot par 36 over nine holes to earn medalist
honors, while Davis Pemstein (39), Michael Vackar (42), David
Motschenbacher (42), Rhett Palmer (43) and Michael Benvenuti (46)
scored for the Sailors.
Newport Harbor fell to 4-8, 2-4 in league, while the Wolverines
are now 11-2, 5-2.
The Sailors meet Back Bay rival Corona del Mar in a nonleague
match at Pelican Hill Golf Club April 23.
