First Team Nolan a first-time winner

First Team Nolan collected its first victory of the 2003 season when
it outlasted Courtesy Auto Body, 17-15, in a Laguna Beach Little
League AAA Division game at Riddle Field.
Courtesy Auto Body scored four consecutive runs in the first
inning, but First Team Nolan came back in a game that had several
lead changes.
First Team Nolan’s Travis Sampson received a game ball for his
steady play in the field and three triples offensively.
His teammate, Beau Heussenstamm got the other game ball for his
defensive effort at third base.

Coldwell Banker 12, First Team Nolan 6
Doubles by Sawyer Pierce, Kellan Lindley and Brandon Conrad paced
Coldwell Banker which won for the first time this season.
Alex Hope and Alex LeBon each stole home.
Austin Hilleman tripled and Beau Heussenstamm and John Gavin each
stole home for First Team Nolan.
SG Roofing 14, Courtesy Auto Body 7
Lead-off hitter Sammy Witte went four for four including a triple
and double and scored three runs to power SG Roofing.
Michael Hyden, Tyler Kesler, Alex Gromet and Evan Rubel each had
two hits to further fuel the attack.
Glazer and Kesler each threw two innings and each gave up just one
run.
Zach Cornwell, Griffin McMullen, Chris Barwick and Johnathan
Roberts had hits for Courtesy Auto Body and Santi Pierini scored
twice.
Five Feet 10, Quiksilver 9 Sam Hilburn’s single to centerfield scored Billy Vail with the
winning run in the sixth inning to lift Five Feet to the victory.
Billy Vail had singled to begin the sixth and was followed by
Tylan Kang’s single, setting the stage for Hilburn.
Charlie Jackson retired Quiksilver on five pitches in the bottom
of the inning.
Singles by Brian Vail, Drew Wheeler and Alex Iannotti led to four,
first inning runs as Five Feet took a 4-2 lead.
Quiksilver score twice in the first inning behind hits by Blake
Hoffmeister, Alex Bekken and Jake Johnson.
Johnson, Hoffmeister, Taylor Preston and Alec Loechner each had
key hits for Quiksilver.
In AA Division play:
Brandy’s Friends 5, Laguna Batting Cages 3
Jack Winn paced Brandy’s Friends with two hits and starting
pitcher Ojo Weiss added a hit to his cause.
Garrett Burk pitched two strong inning and added two hits on
offense for Laguna Batting Cages.
Crane Financial 7, Javier’s 5
Rickie De La Torre had two hits and scored twice and leadoff
hitter Alexander McQueen doubled and scored to lead Crane Financial.
Oysters 2, John Jory 2
Cole Kesler had an RBI single and pitched two innings of shut out
ball for John Jory.
Morgan Lebby and Teague Hamilton each had an RBI single and Warren
Abbate tripled for the Oysters.
Preston Grande Pre struck out the final three John Jory batters to
preserve the tie.
In other games:
Laguna Police 10, Quiksilver 10
Derek Knott had three hits, Mathew Neev and Sam Wellsfry each had
two hits and Kirk Knott had four stolen bases for Laguna Police.
Taylor Preston belted a two-run home run and also singled and
Blake Hofmeister finished with two hits to pace Quiksilver.
Pirates 5, Laguna Beach Firefighters 0
Adam Selevan singled twice and Brennen Mulvaney and Spencer
Freidenrich both singled for the Firefighters in their loss to San
Juan Capistrano.
