Sandpiper, Island Shade meet for postseason title

Sandpiper and Island Shade, two of three teams who finished in a
three-way tie for first-place in Wednesday League regular season
action, advanced to the winner’s bracket final in postseason play in
Men’s Summer 16 Slow Pitch Softball at Riddle Field.
Both teams advanced to the bracket final as Sandpiper downed Used
Cars, 6-2, and Island Shade defeated Team Viagra, the other team that
finished in the three-way tie for the regular season title, by a 6-2
count.
Sandpiper 6, Used Cars 2
Sandpiper scored three, first inning runs behind a walk and five
singles and went on to down Used Cars.
Ryan Neptune led Sandpiper with a pair of solo home runs, Joel
Bushong hit an RBI triple and Chris Howell singled twice.
Howell also threw a three-hit victory but two of the hits were
solo home runs to Micah Stoval and Mica Brown.
Team Viagra 8, Ganahl Lumber 3
Dave Miller’s three-run home run gave Ganahl Lumber an early 3-0
lead but Team Viagra exploded for eight runs over the first four
innings to pull away to victory.
Cam Hammil, Nate Pivaroff, Keith Mulvaney, John Verdugo Jr., Ryan
Sauers and Glen Cecil each hit home runs for Team Viagra.
Derek Roland doubled and singled twice for the winners.
Steve Dixon and Robert Bonn each singled twice to lead Ganahl
Lumber.
Used Cars 3, Rotary 2
Mel Harwell’s RBI single decided this game as Used Cars dropped
Rotary into loser’s bracket play.
Mike Cooper and Pat Toohey each homered for Used Cars.
