Chargers down Estancia in girls’ golf

The Edison High girls’ golf team collected its second win of the
season Monday as it defeated visiting Estancia, 232-274, at Mile
Square Park.
Jennie Lee, with a 34, earned medalist honors for the match.
Edison’s victory spoiled Estancia’s season opener.
In other girls’ golf action, Jane Chin shot a two-under-par at
Meadowlark Golf Course and Marina remained unbeaten following a
narrow 210-215 victory over visiting Torrey Pines.
In girls’ volleyball, Huntington Beach won two straight matches to
square its record at 2-2 following a pair of five-game victories over
Dana Hills and Lakewood.
In girls’ tennis, Jessica Rice swept at No. 1 singles as Edison
claimed its first victory of the season, 16-2, over visiting Rosary.
In 8-man football, David Burch rushed for 240 yards and four
touchdowns and Matt Beckland rushed for two more scores as Liberty
Christian rolled past Ventura County Christian, 50-0.

Hammerheads 1, Too Fast, Too Furious, 0
Diane McEveety scored the lone goal of the match in the third
period to lift the Hammerheads in a defensive battle at Gisler
School.
Sour Grapes 5, Bad Girl Blues 1
Melody Sainz scored two, first period goals and Brittani Glendon
also scored twice to lead the Sower Grapes.
Natalie Rossa closed out the scoring with a fourth period goal for
a Sour Grape attack that was assisted by Sabrina Hoyle, Stephanie
Diciurcio, Julianne Lucas and Megan Kabre.
Goalie Abby Kerfoot came up with several saves and received strong
support defensively from Rachael Adair, Kelsey Kennedy, Auryell
Garcia and Marissa Norton.
