Army Private Joshua A. Jeppesen, a 2002...

Army Private Joshua A. Jeppesen, a 2002 graduate of Ocean View High

School, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Jeppesen is the son of Jodi Steidley of Corona and Jeff Jeppesen of

Huntington Beach ... Mathew Mershimer, a 17-year-old Huntington Beach

resident, recently completed his Eagle Scout Project for Golden View

School. He planned and rebuilt a dock that had become too dangerous

to use. Mathew is now starting to work with Search and Rescue in

Huntington Beach and plans to become a fire investigator ...

Huntington Beach resident David D. Murray, a senior at Cal State Long

Beach, will be among 24 students heading to Washington, D.C. Saturday

to participate in the fifth annual Congressional Internship Program,

a public service experience created and sponsored by the Leon &

Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy. Murray, a political

science major, was chosen for his exemplary scholastic achievements

as well as his interest in politics. He was one of the founding

members of the Campus Progressives, a political student organization

at Cal State Long Beach, and he will be a contact for the Howard Dean

campaign when he returns from the internship.
