MAILBAG:

Matt Szabo’s fitting tribute to Corona del Mar High tennis coach Tim Mang (“Plenty of memories,” May 15), though very good, does not come close to telling of Coach Tim Mang’s impact on high school tennis, not only in Southern California, but the entire nation.

Not that anyone could.

Coach Mang should be in the National High School hall of fame, if there is one. He has been a leader and pioneer for CIF tennis.

He has been an outstanding teacher and mentor to his players at Corona del Mar and to all the high school coaches and programs in Southern California.

His teams are always well-coached, always play with honor and distinction, and most of all, are good sportsmen. That is the Mang way. Tim shines in many areas, but for those of us who have had the honor to play his teams, doubles play has always been the foundation of his teams.

As a college coach I had the honor of coaching against such greats as Glenn Bassett (UCLA), George Toley (USC), Myron McNamara (UCI), and Dick Gould (Stanford), among others. Without a doubt, Tim Mang holds the same status as these legends and belongs on a short list of great coaches.

We all will miss him and never forget what he has done for our game.

Sen. Clinton is an inspiration, a fighter

Hillary Clinton should stay in the race to the end. She is a fighter and the person I need in my foxhole.

Marie Cocco wrote an article in the Washington Post titled “Misogyny I Won’t Miss” that speaks to what is being done to Hillary.

Hillary is an inspiration to all who believe in the USA and its values.

You rock, Hillary!

Though a Dem, her resolve is admirable

As a Republican and someone who has never cared much for Hillary, I must admit it is impossible not to admire her grit and determination.

I wonder if the primary election cycle was just now beginning, would the final results favor Hillary now that Democrats have had a more in-depth look at both of their candidates?
