GLENDALE — Katherine Whichner had 13 kills, eight aces and 11 digs to lead the visiting Pirates to a 24-26, 25-13, 25-18, 25-21 triumph in their season opener Wednesday.

Maddy Baird had 14 kills, while sophomore setter Kimya Jafroudi had 39 assists. Andie Frisina had 20 digs for the winners.
