PITCHERS:
Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw
16-7, 2.13 ERA, regular season
Mets’ Steven Matz
4-0, 2.27
Kershaw’s Game 1 start wasn’t disastrous but wasn’t his usual mastery. His postseason albatross, the seventh inning, was again decisive; he walked the bases loaded and was pulled. Now he’ll go on short rest. On three days’ rest, Kershaw has split two games with a 2.25 earned-run average and 0.83 walks plus hits per inning pitched. Impressive. More impressive: He has a 1.01 ERA in four Citi Field starts. … Matz, 24, was a 15-year-old fan on Long Island, N.Y., during the Mets’ last postseason series. His career spans just six games, and a back injury has sidelined him 19 days, but he threw a simulated game last week. He is a Mets starter, so (surprise) he throws a lively fastball in the low to mid-90s. Against the Dodgers, in July, he pitched six scoreless innings and struck out eight. Pressure hasn’t been a problem. In his debut, he allowed two runs in 7 2/3 innings and drove in four runs.
