Baseball: Four no-hitters in opening round of playoffs on Friday

Friday’s opening round of the Southern Section baseball playoffs produced at least four no-hitters, three coming in Division 3.
In Division 1, Jack Flaherty threw a no-hitter in Harvard-Westlake’s 5-0 win over Riverside North.
In Division 3, Alex Gironda of Santa Monica threw a no-hitter in a 5-0 win over West Covina.
Sean Trimble of Temescal Canyon threw a no-hitter in an 8-0 win over San Gorgonio.
Andrew Bash of Palm Desert threw a no-hitter in an 8-0 win over Palmdale.
Alex Garcia struck out eight and walked none in Bishop Amat’s 11-0 win over Elsinore. Freshman Jayson Gonzalez had two hits and three RBIs.
Warren defeated Rancho Alamitos, 6-0. Alan Trejo struck out six in four innings. Junior Ruiz had a triple and single.
Village Christian won its playoff opener with a 9-1 win over Lompoc. Chris Davidson threw a complete game.
