Boys’ basketball: Alex Akingbulu to be available on Saturday for Narbonne

Narbonne Coach Anthony Hilliard said Monday that 6-foot-6 center Alex Akingbulu will be available for Saturday’s City Section Division I championship game against Westchester at 8 p.m. at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

“He’s injured but he’s going to play through it,” Hilliard said. “He’s a football kid.”

Akingbulu, headed to UCLA on a football scholarship, has been dealing with a shoulder issue. He didn’t play in Saturday’s semifinal win over Fairfax.

Narbonne will need his size, because Westchester has the City Section’s top big man in Keith Fisher.
