Gary Fabricius, the head football coach at Newbury Park for eight years and a member of the coaching staff for 35 years, announced his retirement from coaching.
The school will follow district protocol in hiring a replacement. That means teachers within the Las Virgenes School District will get first opportunity to fill the position.
Newbury Park has one of the top young quarterbacks in Southern California in sophomore Cameron Rising.
Fabricius and his coaching staff produced a top passing offense. He was 51-37 as head coach.
