Football: Riverside North forfeits five games, remains in Division 10 playoffs

Here come the forfeits.
It’s usually around playoff time that ineligible players are suddenly discovered, and Riverside North has become the first school to discover an ineligible player, Southern Section spokesman Thom Simmons said.
The key is that the ineligible player was found after the league submitted its playoff entries, which means North will be allowed to continue to play in the Division 10 playoffs.
The rule to keep the team in the playoffs was put in to prevent somebody from holding back information just to spring the evidence right before the playoffs start. The individual is punished, not the team.
In this case, North self-reported the ineligible player and will forfeit five games, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
