Football: Sylmar, Canoga Park square off to decide Valley Mission League title
- Share via
For weeks, Sylmar (7-2) and Canoga Park (8-1) have been preparing to face off, and they finally get to meet on Friday at Sylmar to decide the Valley Mission League championship.
“We feel we’re ready,” Sylmar Coach John Brazil said. “We’re jelling at the right time.”
Canoga Park will offer a strong defensive challenge to Sylmar quarterback Clarence Williams. It was a priority of Canoga Park Coach Ivan Moreno to get better on defense, and the Hunters have. While much attention has been focused on the running of Darius Jones, he also has made major contributions on defense.
“We know they’re going to run the ball,” Brazil said. “If we’re not ready, it’s going to be a long night.”
Sylmar is in Division II and Canoga Park is in Division I.
It would help Sylmar if Marcus Gandy can be effective running the ball.
