Girls’ basketball: L.A. Windward advances to Palisades tournament semifinal

L.A. Windward, ranked No. 2 in the state by CalHiSports, cruised to a 65-41 victory over Palisades on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Palisades tournament.
UCLA-bound Jordin Canada contributed 15 points and several scintillating assists. Emily Surloff also had 15 points, all coming from five three-pointers.
Another semifinalist team is Troy, which edged Chaminade, 45-44. Alemany defeated Garces, 67-44. Lynwood defeated Valencia, 36-27. Friday’s semifinal matchups are Windward vs. Troy and Alemany vs. Lynwood.
