Lacrosse still lacking numbers to become official championship sport in Southern Section

The numbers are still not there for lacrosse to become an official championship sport in the Southern Section.
According to the Southern Section, there are 91 high school boys teams and 76 high school girls teams for the upcoming season.
There needs to be 117 boys teams and 117 girls teams playing lacrosse for the Southern Section to hold championships as it does for such sports as football, basketball, softball and baseball.
