Michigan celebrates Harvest Stompede Vineyard Run & Walk

Work up a sweat in a footrace, or simply stroll from one wine tasting to the next during this weekend festival that takes oenophiles along Michigan’s Leelanau Peninsula wine trail. The course, open to the public only on race day, traverses three vineyards and an orchard. Thirteen local wineries participate in the tastings.
When, where: The races start at 9 a.m. Sept. 22 at Ciccone Vineyards, 10343 E. Hilltop Road, Suttons Bay. The self-guided tour of wineries is Sept. 22 and 23. A trail map can be downloaded at the Leelanau Peninsula website.
Cost: $23 per person to participate in the run/walk events. The wine tastings range from $15 for one day and seven wineries to $25 for two days and 13 wineries.
